Mozart, Wolfgang Amadeus (1756-1791)

Unter der Bezeichnung "Kirchensonate" oder "Epistelsonate" sind 17 einsätzige Instrumentalkompositionen Wolfgang Amadeus Mozarts bekannt, teils schlichte Trios für zwei Violinen und Bass, teils großzügige konzertante Sätze mit obligater Orgel. Einzig Leopold Mozart hat sich - mit einzelnen fragmentarisch erhaltenen Kompositionen - mit der Gattung auseinandergesetzt. Mozarts Sonaten bilden damit ein musikalisch gewichtiges Repertoire ohne Parallelen.
